How do I know if this part needs replacing
Firstly, you can check by looking at the pads through the wheel rims. You will notice that the outside pad will be pressed up against the rotor which is the large metal disc. You should have approximately 6 mm of pad and if you have less you should inspect and or replace the pads on both left and right side of your vehicle.
Some vehicles have brake pad wear indicators that will give you a warning light to 'warn' that the pads need changing.
Some brand of pads will let off a high pitch screech when the brakes are applied which can also be a warning that your brake pads need changing.
Other signs are unusual increased braking distance, pulling to the left or the right or a loud grinding noise which is an indication that the pads have worn beyond replacement and the noise is metal on metal. You have most likely damaged the rotor/s which may need to be skimmed or replaced.
Textar has been a synonym for premium friction products for 100 years. Founded in 1913 as a sales company, the brand of the TMD Friction Group stands for high quality, optimum safety and highest braking comfort worldwide. History has shown that Textar pads and linings have not only conquered the road, they have also been successful in motor racing. In the legendary Mercedes Silver Arrow, they helped Argentine driver Juan Manuel Fangio achieve victories in the 1950s, including Grand Prix wins on the Nürburgring, in Italy and in Buenos Aires. A thank-you letter from Mercedes tells of the successful collaboration. In the high performance sector, TMD Friction’s Textar pads are the first choice for vehicles fitted with carbon ceramic brake discs. And with good reason, since these pads have been developed in close collaboration with the disc manufacturer to find the perfect match for this friction partner. Today, Textar offers the widest range of products and services for passenger cars currently built in the market. In the commercial vehicles sector, 70% of vehicles with drum brakes, and 50% of those with disc brakes, leave the assembly line fitted with Textar friction products. The trend in vehicle engineering and the development of Textar friction products is currently towards increasing both drive comfort and environmental compatibility. Products that cause less brake dust and low noise, that are lighter and therefore reduce consumption, are no dreams of the future for Textar. They are already successful in the spare parts market through the TEXTAR EPAD, and in the commercial vehicles sector through the TEXTAR LIGHT-WEIGHT BACKING PLATES.
